Job overview

We are looking for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to lead embedding an ddeveloping the role of Advanced Clinical Practice across the Trust.

The aim of the post is to help upskill the clinical workforce, providing leadership, governance and support to Non-medical prescribers, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and trainees. The support will include proving transparency and role structure including policy development, identifying CPD Requirements and guidance to prospective trainees who wish to enhance their skills.

This is an evolving role integrally linked to the wider workforce transformation agenda, innovation in clinical pathways and workforce development. The role will involve working with internal and external stakeholders, developing and creating a network of advanced practice practitioners.

The post holder will have proven leadership capability, extensive clinical experience at an advanced practice level and of working in multi-professional teams.

We are a large multi-site NHS mental health and learning disabilities service provider with over 4,000 staff, based across Norfolk and Suffolk.

We’re looking for an inspiring Advanced clinical Practitioner to join our established Education Team.

This role is key to ensuring we have established relationships with all advanced nurses across the Trust including those in training or who have an ambition to train creating a culture within the organisation which embraces those learning and developing and is committed to creating the workforce of advanced nursing the future.

The post holder with have a demonstrable portfolio that evidences advanced level leadership and knowledge of clinical skills equivalent to that of a senior clinical member of staff. Their clinical role will involve the independent and autonomous practice within their chosen speciality.

Lead the  delivery of advanced practice workforce across the Trust and contribute to trust wide strategies surrounding advanced practice, performance and improvement. They will be responsible for ensuring that the Trust is practicing safely, efficiently, with good quality care and is well led in all aspects of advanced practice for ACP and NMP.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for the leadership and strategic development, across the NSFT of all the advanced (ACP) practice staff including non-medical prescribers (NMP), both trainees and qualified, as well as supporting educational supervisors and engaging with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) for the delivery of academic modules.

The successful applicant must understand the advanced practice apprenticeship and NMP training. They must also engage fully with Health Education England and support any future relevant curriculums and credentials that are released.

The successful applicant will also be involved in advanced nursing and NMP development of all areas within the specialty concentrating around patient safety, experience, efficiency and effectiveness aspects involving care.

The successful applicant will engage fully with colleague advanced practitioners and NMP’s across the trust.

Contribute to work force planning and considerations around organisational systems affecting resilience and retention, oversee training with succession planning and linking in with external organisations to facilitate the training needs for this group, as well as planning the career trajectory and CPD needs and inputting into the budget requirements for this.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Healthcare professional
  • Clinical Leadership Experience/qualification in mental health
  • Recognised qualification in ACP or MSc equivalent with experience and knowledge of leading advanced practice
  • PhD or evidence of doctoral level knowledge
  • Non-medical Prescriber
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification or demonstrable relevant experience

Experience
