Are you a highly motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic pharmacy technician looking to step into a rewarding role in mental health care? If the answer is yes, we have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly, innovative, and supportive pharmacy team as a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to lead on our procurement service. .
This post is suitable for a GPhC registered pharmacy technician wanting to move sector and from any clinical background. The successful candidate will be based within the dispensary at Hellesdon Hospital in Norwich.
The ideal candidate will work closely with our dispensary assistants, pharmacy technicians and clinical pharmacy staff to ensure the pharmacy department purchases and supplies the most cost effective medicines for our patients.
You will have a flexible approach to the needs of the service and have a strong team work ethic. You must be well organised and able to prioritise your own work, have good interpersonal skills and be confident working independently. The role is full-time, but part-time will be considered and we support flexible working options.
Main duties of the job
As the Lead Pharmacy Technicians for procurement, you will:
- Ensure cost effective purchase of medicines for NSFT
- Update and maintain prescription templates on the Trust’s ePMA system
- Write and maintain SOPs relating to pharmacy procurement processes
- Conduct line management and supervision of dispensary staff
- Participate in Trust wide medicines management initiatives.
- Participate in medicines management audit projects.
- Support the education and training for student pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists.

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a practicing Pharmacy Technician
- NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Services with recognized underpinning knowledge qualification or General Pharmaceutical Council recognized equivalent e.g. BTEC Pharmaceutical Science.
Desirable criteria
- Accredited accuracy checking qualification
- Minimum 2 years recent post registration experience in Hospital Pharmacy
Skills
Essential criteria
- Reasonable confidence and competence in using IT systems (e.g. Outlook, Word, clinical or other record systems) relevant to the role.
- Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and experience of supervising junior staff
Experience
Essential criteria
- Documented evidence of dispensing competence
- Experience of working to formal documented procedures
Desirable criteria
- Previous use of ePMA system(s)
- Experience in pharmacy ICT systems
