Advanced Clinical Pharmacist – Digital Systems and Formulary

Are you a pharmacist looking for new challenges? This is an exciting time at NSFT, join us as we transform our Pharmacy team.

Our Trust has already successfully rolled out electronic prescribing and medicines administration to all of our inpatient units but this is the start of our ambitious digital journey. We have a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to join us to lead our digital pharmacy agenda.

Candidates must be passionate about technology and its use to improve the quality of care and patient safety.  They should have recent demonstrable experience of delivering and embedding change management in a clinical environment

NSFT Pharmacy covers Norfolk and Suffolk and the successful candidate can be based in either of these counties. 

Main duties of the job

  • To lead on the implementation of new digital systems within the pharmacy department
  • Lead on aspects of development, implementation, assurance and ongoing use of electronic medicines management systems across the Trust.
  • To support further implementation and ongoing management of an Electronic Prescribing and Administration system (EPMA) at the Trust
  • To collaborate with the configuration, validation, testing and rollout of digital systems from a pharmacy perspective
  • To assist with the formulary build and continued maintenance and development of the EPMA system in line with Trust and system partners’ formularies
  • To ensure patient safety, security of access, system availability and data accuracy is delivered by the system and meets the requirements of the Trust, it’s patients and clinical staff

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GPhC registration as a pharmacist
  • Postgraduate diploma qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership or Management Qualification
  • IT or Project management Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post registration experience in hospital pharmacy
  • Experience of Service / Personnel management
Desirable criteria
  • Practical experience of Electronic Medicines Management systems

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Reasonable confidence and competence in using IT systems (e.g. Outlook, Word, clinical or other record systems) relevant to the role.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of regulations and legislation relevant to EPMA
  • In depth knowledge of medicines administration processes and medicines management
