The Chief of Clinical Operations is seeking to appoint a high calibre professional to undertake a the Head of Make Ready Services role within the Operations Support Team that will focus on the efficient running of our Make Ready Services. 

The Head of Make Ready Services is a key senior role in the Trust. This is the lead role in developing and implementing a Trust-wide make ready service for all operational vehicles thereby ensuring the right quality of vehicle preparation, reliability and consistency.

To initiate, lead and manage business and commercial change initiatives.  This includes stakeholder identification and involvement, effective staff communication, drafting and driving through business plans and suggestions, cost improvement initiatives and assessing benefit realisation.  

The role is heavily focussed on engaging with managers and staff of all levels, including key senior operational and clinical management, to ensure there is a holistic system buy in to the right make ready service.

This role will lead the implementation of the make ready strategy developing new depots and services as well as reconfiguring any existing make ready functions. 

As make ready services are introduced the postholder will establish operationally focused management and performance arrangements to ensure the delivery cost-effective and safe services uniformly across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

This post will lead, advise and report to the Trust on all matters related to make ready services and support the Trust’s Risk Management and Integrated Governance team(s) to ensure effective governance to national standards and mitigate risks.

 Responsible for: 

·       Management responsibilities for all Make ready personnel (c200 staff), managing recruitment/selection, personal development and individual performance management.

 ·       To manage the multi-year capital development for this initiate.

·       To manage the operational make ready budgets

·       To manage on a day to day basis all vehicles, equipment, fuel and consumables allocated to make ready locations.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Masters Degree level qualification or equivalence in a relevant discipline or, demonstrable equivalent experience at this level.
  • • Possess suitable qualifications or equivalent experience to provide expert, professional advice relating to supplies, make ready, fleet and procurement legislation/regulatory compliance.
Desirable criteria
  • • Management qualification at NVQ Level 4, or equivalent experience

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • • Skills in assessing systems and implementing transformational change.
  • • Ability to formulate strategic plans and produce proposals for consideration by senior management including the Senior Leadership Board/Executive Leadership Board and the Trust Board.
  • • A comprehensive knowledge of the governance standards and requirements relating to make ready services.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • A minimum of five years senior management experience managing supplies, sourcing, make ready or an equivalent area.
  • • Experience of budget management at a senior level (>£1M) and development of strategic budgets/business cases (both capital and revenue).
