Job overview
- To work alongside the service managers, clinical leads, team leads, and clinical staff to promote professional standards within the intermediate care service and to positively support, influence and improve the quality of the learning environment.
- To support in standardising the induction process and competency framework for all staff
- To support assessment and supervision in practice, the post holder will be expected to spend approximately 80% of their time in clinical practice.
- The post-holder will need to work with minimal supervision in contributing to the support of all types of pre and post-registration learners (Nursing, Nursing Associate, Allied Health Professionals including Apprentices) in clinical practice. Support will include encouraging creativity in developing learning opportunities, promoting inter-professional working and learning and supporting assessment of learners.
- Working alongside the wider HARA leadership team they will develop and deliver quality education programmes that reflect frailty competencies, NMC and HCPC standards, whilst incorporating national guidance and supporting the Trust’s clinical governance agenda.
Main duties of the job
· Develop, implement and manage the competency framework, which may include organising classroom based learning,1:1 clinical shadowing visits with staff members.
· To be a key player in supporting new staff inductions and ensuring that the vision, mission and strategy is promoted throughout.
· Develop, implement and deliver competency based, work based, clinical education and contribute to assessment
· To work alongside staff in practice setting to provide direct work based teaching within current scope of practice.
· Work with clinical teams to ensure staff are exposed to a wide range of learning opportunities
· To further develop own competence and ability to teach a wider range of clinical skills
· Contribute to assessment of practice, ensuring staff meet programme requirements
· Identify and support staff to arrange further skills training for that which is not possible in the clinical setting.
· Liaising with multidisciplinary colleagues to encourage multidisciplinary training and education
· Demonstrate the links between theory, practice and research to ensure that all Trainees achieve the level of knowledge and competency appropriate to their roles and responsibilities.
· Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of training programmes
· Develop, review and update teaching materials, amend as indicated by evidence/research and ensure materials are widely available and accessed

- Professional Healthcare qualification
- Evidence of Professional development in frailty
- 3 years relevant Post Reg experience within a broad range of specialist experience
Desirable criteria
- Experience of training and assessing AHPs, nurses and students
- Experience of clinical and classroom based teaching
