Post holder will be responsible for provision of a range of audiometric investigations and a comprehensive hearing aid service to child population of Scarborough.

One of the main responsibilities to provide more complex assessments (OAE, ERA) and perform these as trained appropriately. 

The post holder is to undertake aural impressions for all age groups working within national and departmental protocols and to provide a comprehensive hearing aid service to patients referred to the Department from GPs and the ENT Department, including provision of a full range of NHS digital hearing aids to all age groups in line with the Modernising Hearing Aid Service directives. 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

·       To undertake objective testing, including ERA

·       To perform pure tone, impedance and speech audiometry testing, advising patients and referring clinicians on management plans based on information obtained from these as appropriate

·       To recommend further investigations as required, either referring to the appropriate member of staff or carrying out the procedures if appropriately trained

•    To note results of testing in hospital notes and departmental records as appropriate, including providing patient reports as necessary and ensuring that these are filed in hospital and departmental records

·       To ensure that departmental child auditory rehabilitation protocols and procedures are adequately documented and are kept up to date with national standards

·       Communicates complex information and condition related information to patients, relatives and carers of hearing impaired children (involves sensitive support and counselling where they may be significant emotional distress)

·       To oversee the paediatric service provision for paediatric hearing assessment and rehabilitation with or without amplification of children of all ages including young babies

·       To assess the general auditory (re)habilitative needs of hearing impaired adults and children with respect to their audiological status, communication skills and social needs
