Job overview

Here within the Skin Cancer Team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust we are looking to recruit a dynamic registered nurse to the post of: Band 7 Skin Cancer Specialist Nurse.

The successful candidate must have current or previous experience of working within Skin Cancer specialist nursing.

The role requires a leader who can work autonomously within their scope of practice and support the team to deliver safe effective care to our patients. Furthermore, the appointee must be equipped with excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse multi-disciplinary group of clinicians, patients, and allied healthcare providers.

You must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, organised, computer literate and able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to continued personal development.

This role will require flexibility and potential for cross site working

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role are:

  • Responsibility for the management of a defined caseload.
  • To provide leadership to the team, ensuring evidence based practice whilst leading on service and quality improvement. 
  • Continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care.
  • Provide specialist nursing care and advice to a specific patient group and will contribute to the development of the specialty service and supporting the team to work to this high standard.
  • Competent in dermoscopy
  • The post holder will ensure cost effective use of resources
