Job overview

We are looking for a Clerical Officer to support the Discharge Command Centre at York Hospital.

Good organisational skills along with effective and kind communication skills are important for this role.

You will be required to prioritise your own workload and exercise initiative within set parameters.

Previous experience liaising with families over the telephone would be helpful in this role.

We are a small friendly team and work as an multi-disciplinary team.

Informal discussions are welcomed.

Main duties of the job

To provide clerical support to clinical staff based in the discharge command centre, including managing enquiries from relatives, social care, health and ward staff.

To provide in office administration of the discharge command centre and the service the multi-disciplinary team provide.

Will be required to have excellent IT skills and be able to upload documents on to patient IT system.

With direction complete reports as required.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous Office/Administrative experience (1 year minimum)
  • Experience of dealing with confidential information
Desirable criteria
  • Previous Office/Administrative experience in an NHS environment

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent. Maths and English at C or above – or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience.
  • Computer literacy skills to RSA2, NVQ 2 or equivalent.
