We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and proactive person to support our Renal Dietetic services across the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This post is based at York Hospital, in the cultural city of York and close proximity to the picturesque Yorkshire coast and North York Moors. We are looking to recruit a Dietitian with experience in Renal disease, or a Band 5/6 who is keen to gain knowledge and experience in this area.
This post sits within a supportive clinical team comprising of 3 other Band 6 Dietitians working in Renal dietetics across the York and Scarborough Hospital sites, led by a Band 7 Advanced Clinical Specialist Dietitian.
This post will provide specialist dietetic care for patients with renal disease in the inpatient and outpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
This is an excellent opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge and work closely with our MDT colleagues, to provide an excellent in-patient and out-patient service. Dietetic support is provided to our nephrology, low clearance, dialysis and transplant population.
You will join a friendly department of over 30 Dietitians across 2 sites. You will be primarily based at York Hospital but will be required to travel to additional sites including Scarborough, Harrogate, Easingwold and Selby Hospital.
There will be opportunities for involvement in audit, service development and research.
The department places a strong emphasis on clinical supervision, training and education, including:
- peer support and supervision
- well established programme facilitating the training of dietetic students
- delivery of a variety of rolling training programmes for other healthcare professionals across the Trust, relating to nutritional care
- opportunities to participate in audit and research
- development in leadership skills
Access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes and hold a full and valid driving licence (role will involve travel to numerous addresses that cannot be easily accessed by public transport means) is required.

Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- HCPC Registered Dietitian
- Evidence of relevant CPD activities
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of post graduate training within specialist area
- Practice placement supervisor qualification
Experience & Knowledge Required
Essential criteria
- Experience in a relevant junior role, including the management of a range of conditions, with evidence of additional knowledge acquired through formal and informal clinical supervision
- Evidence of ability to manage complex clinical presentations
- Experience in delivering clinical treatment within specialist area
- Understanding of current issues in health care Standards of Professional Practice
- Experience in assessment and provision of specialist equipment
Desirable criteria
- Experience in the use of outcome measures to evaluate clinical treatment
- Developed / Specialist clinical skills within relevant area
- Experience of training/supporting others (including students) within specialist clinical area
- Delivery of relevant audit projects
