York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) is looking for a Trust Logistic Services Co-ordinator (Mobile Chemotherapy Unit) to provide a professional and reliable service by transporting the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) from York Transport Department (or other locations) to the agreed daily community location, supporting the Chemotherapy team onsite and returning the MCU at the end of the treatment day.
Main duties of the job
The Trust Logistic Services Co-ordinator (Mobile Chemotherapy Unit) will primarily be responsible for:
- the transportation of the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) between locations
- setting up and preparing the MCU to be used by the Chemotherapy nurses and patients
- closing down and securing the unit at the end of a treatment day
- daily road safety checks, reporting any faults and arranging necessary repairs
- cleaning and maintaining the MCU, both internally and externally, including the on board equipment
- providing support to the Chemotherapy nurses and patients
The Transport Department also provides a professional and reliable Transport service on behalf YTHFM for York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, servicing various NHS organisations including other hospitals and GP surgeries within York and the surrounding areas. On occasions where the MCU is not operational or due to go out, you may also be asked to support the Transport Department with these other services. Here you will be responsible for handling and transporting a range of items, including, but not limited to:
- medical equipment
- controlled drugs (signed collection and delivery)
- food items
- medical gases
- pathology samples
- foul linen
- furniture
You will be responsible for the safe delivery and security of all items whilst in transit.

- Extensive experience of driving heavy goods vehicles

- A good general education to GCSE standard
- HGV Class II License Holder or LGV Category C holder
- The current driving license should not amass 12 points within any 3 year period. For new drivers they should not amass 6 points within the first 2 years of passing their test

- Information technology/keyboard skills qualification
