Job overview

·       Providing OT service and representation in Memory Assessment Services (MAS). To hold an OT caseload and to manage a caseload of service users with complex needs.

·       To use evidence based/service user centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

 

Main duties of the job

·       To provide Leadership for junior staff, through supervision and appraisal.

·       To participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of OT services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects.

·        To contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust OT services.

·        To regularly supervise OT students on practice placement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

    1. Provide functional assessments to aid diagnostic processes and care needs.
2. Plan and implement service user individual or group interventions.
3. Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for service users with complex needs.
4. Provide screening of cognitive functioning in relation to driving ability.
5. Provide training and advice on lifestyles changes and adaptations to the service users, social and
physical environment.
6. Undertake other service responsibilities for example, duty work as expected.
7. Provide effective guidance, supervision, and appraisal for junior staff.
8. Establish robust communication networks with service users, carers and other professionals and
agencies.
9. Ensure up to date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance
with professional and trust standards
10. Maintain registration and comply with standards set by Health Care Professionals HCPC, and
Trust policies and procedures.
11. Respect individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of service users.
12. In line with local guidelines review and reflect on own practice and performance through
effective use of supervision and appraisals.
13. Facilitate and provide education and training to staff, professionals, service users and carers.
14. To be responsible for the supervision and assessment of OT students.
15. Participate in the operational planning, evaluation and implementation of policy and service
development within the team, leading on delegated projects
16. Demonstrate ongoing personal development through participation in internal and external
development opportunities.
17. Exercise good personal time management, punctuality and consistent reliable attendance.
18. To undertake research or audits projects relevant to OT or service area, disseminating findings at
local level.

  • • Specialist knowledge and application of OT assessments and interventions relevant to client group
