Job overview
The post holder will be a leader within an integrated multi professional inpatient team that includes, registered physiotherapists, occupational therapists, ward matron, registered nursing staff, unregistered staff, medical staff and wider trust colleagues. The post of therapy team leader is to provide the ward with a professional therapy focus for leadership operational management and clinical expertise within the clinical area.
The therapy team leader will take continuing responsibility for the assessment of needs for the service, staff, patients and carers and includes management of training, learning, development and operational needs of all therapy staff. The post holder will be a role model for clinical leadership; setting and upholding agreed clinical standards and ensuring patients receive consistently high quality evidenced based care.
The therapy team leader will be a visible presence for all patients and visitors to the clinical area, and provide the pivotal role for inter-professional working in the ward area. To lead in facilitating safe and timely discharges from the service and managing complex situations as they arise.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to manage the therapy team on a day to day basis with support from the Service Manager providing support to junior colleagues and assisting them in problem solving any issues relating to patients and staff.
Reporting to the Allied Health Professional lead and ultimately to the Director of Nursing and Allied Healthcare Professionals enabling them to deliver services effectively and efficiently to patients and service users.
