We are on an exciting journey of transformation and there are a number of roles within the Group Medical Directors Office that have recently been developed to support with enhancing and developing the Medical Leadership across UHN. Our Senior Medical Team will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare at UHN.
Main duties of the job
This role will be responsible for providing operational and
strategic business planning and leadership to ensure that the Division provides high quality patient care, achieves its performance objectives, and has a positive and empowering culture.
The post holder will be working in an Acute Teaching Hospital and must be able to demonstrate significant experience in Medical Management; a track record of dynamic and innovative leadership; be comfortable working with complexity; and have experience of working across service boundaries.
You will be accountable to the Medical Director for providing senior operational and strategic leadership and will:
- Be accountable for the operational performance and strategic development of the services within the Division.
- Lead across multi-professional colleagues in Division.
Have joint responsibility with the other Divisional Clinical Directors and Executive Team for driving forward programs of work and service direction. - Work closely with the Executive Directors as part of the UHN Executive board to shape and implement the corporate objectives for UHN.
- Lead on and ensure strategic alignment across sites, working in partnership with other Divisional Clinical Directors and the wider health and social care system.
- Have an external focus to facilitate greater working across the Health & Social Care Community.

Education, Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration and holds a licence to practice
- Member/Fellow of appropriate Royal College
- Consultant in an Acute Teaching Hospital
- Evidence of continuing professional & personal development as a clinical leader
Desirable criteria
- Leadership/management qualification or training
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in Medical Management
- Evidence of working across service or organisational boundaries to deliver transformational change
- Experience of working with patients and the public to enhance and develop patient pathways
- Experience of effective collaborative working across the professions, the healthcare system and external stakeholders
- Demonstrable track record of achievement in the quality and patient safety arena and patient experience
