Job overview

The Medical Directorate invites applications for a position of Trust Grade Registrar for 12 months with the possibility of extension. The post is within the General/Acute Medicine Deaprtments and It is essential that applicants have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within General Medicine and have obtained at least Part 2 MRCP. Past (NHS experience would also be preferred)

This is a rotational post across medical specialities within Medicine, 12 months fixed term post.

Main duties of the job

Clinical:
The TG Registrar will be responsible, together with their team for the management of patients  admitted to the ward. He/she will be expected to attend Consultant ward rounds, case  conferences and outpatient clinics and to perform personal ward rounds on the acute patients.  The Trust Grade Registrar is responsible for the medical management of the inpatients & those in MAU/Clifford throughout the on-call shift.

Administration Duties:
Involvement with arrangements for inpatient discharge summaries, outpatient letters etc and  the management of other junior staff on the team. 

Non-Clinical Duties: 
Co-operation and communication with the Management team to ensure the provision of a high  standard of service to patients. 

Undergraduate Teaching: 
Undergraduate medical students are attached to the medical firms of this rotation and it is  expected that the Registrar will assist with their teaching. The post-holder will have the opportunity to participate in the acute medicine on call rota within the division.

  • MBBS/MB ChB or equivalent
  • MRCP Part 2 written
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP completed

Previous Experience

  • Supervision of FY1/FY2

  • 2 years at SHO level
