Candidates must have a full NMC Adult Nurse Registration, there is no option to be able to complete OSCE for this role. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an Assessment Centre on the 20th July 2024 which must be attended in person and cannot be rearranged. A virtual interview will not be possible.

DASU is a fast paced emergency assessment unit for acute surgical admissions, including general surgery, urology and
It provides a direct access route for patients who need immediate review following a GP visit or patients in the Emergency Department requiring further treatment and admission
The unit runs the Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SSDEC) and an admission avoidance clinic Monday to Friday's.
The successful candidate will be working across the 2 areas of DASU and SSDEC
You will work closely with our Surgical on Call doctors who are based on the ward, alongside our Emergency Surgical Nurse Practitioners.
You will be supported by a Ward Sister or a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse who are on duty 24/7.
You will be encouraged to develop in your role as a Registered Nurse. Career progression opportunities are encouraged.
We can offer full or part time working hours. All our posts are internal rotation.
Main duties of the job
To assess and manage acutely unwell patients. Including those who are pre and post operative and those patients with complex surgical conditions. To support colleagues and be an active team member. To undertake clinical skills as required. You must have excellent communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues. To support the ward management team in delivering a high standard of patient care and to assist them to improve quality and patient safety in the ward environment. To work closely with specialist nurses and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
