We have embarked on our digital excellence journey to of Dedicated to Digital Excellence, which sets our strategic ambitions and priorities for the Group.
Main duties of the job
Be responsible for the collation and presentation of information to Programme Boards, Committee Boards, members of staff within the Trust and external agencies, ensuring the project remains high on all relevant staff’s and organisation’s agenda
The post holder will work as part of a dynamic and agile digital transformation and innovation team. They will be responsible for leading, delivering and implementing the Digital Transformation Programme function across the group
Be responsible for communication strategy of digital transformation programme to the Group and external parties.
The Digital Transformation and Innovation team structure includes Programme Management and Transformation, Programme Support, Digital Solution Development, innovation (including machine learning and RPA), assurance, risk and compliance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Project assurance
• Accountable for the management of programme: milestone delivery, interdependency of deliverables, risks and issue and mitigations, change and configuration
• Responsible in ensuring every project within programmes team has an appropriately scoped project plan with clear roles, responsibilities accountabilities, timescales for delivery and benefits realisation metrics against which delivery can be monitored.
• Proactively manage changes in programme scope, identify potential crisis and devise contingency plans in conjunction with appropriate colleagues.
• Developing and providing key operational management data and programme reports, for review and use by the necessary Programme Board
• Support and manage development of programme assurance processes, governance and standards
• Where appropriate prepare, conduct and lead internal Gateway Reviews which will involve the analysis, interpretation and judgement of highly complex information.
• To foster a culture that values respect, teamwork and excellence in all aspects of the delivery of patient care.
• To ensure an effective and appropriate change control and decision process across projects providing effective and auditable logs.
• To develop a working environment where all staff within the team are empowered and when necessary raise concerns.
• To ensure all staff within the service function are annually appraised, have their development needs identified and have a personal development plan.
• To support the development of a performance-based culture within the organisation through personal advocacy and leadership behaviour.
Partnership working
• To develop and maintain strong partnerships and working relationships with Digital and Data leaders across the ICS and region so that initiatives are always developed in line with the wider healthcare system, and based on lessons learned
• To deputise for the Head of DT&I in partnership with the Executive team and wider system leadership structures in developing plans, building capabilities and supporting collaboration across the Group
Management and leadership
• Create a highly-motivated and happy working environment that fosters autonomy, mastery and purpose
• Ability and capacity to quickly absorb and understand large amounts of complex, service, financial, legal and policy information, whether in written, verbal, numerical, analytical and electronic forms
• Challenge existing practices, ensuring that progressive solutions, which consider models of best practice, are incorporated into service plans
• To drive through the delivery of ambitious targets to continually improve performance within the service area
• Interpret and lead on the local implementation of new policies applicable to the management of data and digital technology across the Trust and managing cultural change as required to embed new ways of working.
• Responsible for managing budget and cost centre for digital programmes
• Deputise for the Head of Digital Transformation and Innovation as required
Communication and relationships
• Establish excellent relationships with the Executive and Board members, staff at all levels, external bodies and all stakeholders and will support the implementation of transformation programmes through leadership, motivation and inspiration of others
• Convey and receive highly complex, highly sensitive and possibly highly contentious information
• Provide leadership and direction across situations where highly complex ideas or concepts need to be conveyed and implemented across the organisation in easily understood language
• Use highly developed persuasive, motivational, negotiating, influencing empathetic and / or reassurance skills especially when required to overcome significant barriers to acceptance, thus drawing on the highest level of interpersonal communication skills.
• Produce and deliver formal comprehensive reports to the Boards, Executive and Management teams of the Group and Hospitals
• Liaise effectively with local, regional and national digital/data stakeholders and other organisations supporting good practice/learning from UHN formally and translating good practice/learning into local delivery
• Work in collaboration with users to understand their needs and ensure digital products meet their needs and provide benefits for organisation, staff and patients
• Identify where existing clinical and administrative policies and working practices will need to change in order to maximise the benefit of these new digital systems and work collaboratively with staff in order to do this

Education, Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to Masters level education or equivalent level or equivalent experience working at a senior level leading digital transformation programmes in a complex environment
- Working at a senior level in specialist area
Desirable criteria
- Detailed knowledge of the provision of health services
- Project Management qualification
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- In depth specialist professional knowledge across a number of disciplines (e.g. Digital transformation, product development, project management, service design, risk management, assurance and compliance and staff management)
- Highly developed, specialist knowledge and experience of managing a range of complex project and programme activities to formulate plans and strategies that have effect across multiple services or organisations
- Track record in successfully delivering major operational service improvement initiatives demonstrated by quantifiable metrics
- Budget management experience

- Experience of working within the NHS

Essential criteria
- Highly developed decision making and organisation skills
- Ability to analyse and appropriately present often highly complex information, identify necessary action and make recommendations and follow these through including creating papers for, and presenting at, Board level Committees
- Ability to self-motivate and work on own initiative and organise own workload and that of the team, to work effectively
- Ability to adopt an adaptive leadership style to deliver strategic programmes in a politically sensitive and complex environment
- Ability to support wider senior management team within Digital Transformation and Innovation, working together to create a supportive and engaging working environment for teams
