Exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 8a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist  join our lively and supportive Eating Disorder Service .

This is an exciting opportunity to join the large and expanding of Northants Eating Disorder Service (NEDS). NEDS is a passionate and energetic countywide psychology-led service. The team (over 25. w.t.e.) currently comprises of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical & Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists (RMN), Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Specialist Dieticians, Occupational Therapist, Support Workers (including Peer Support Workers), Arts Therapists, Assistant Psychologists).

NEDS is a very well-established service, which has evolved over the past 30 years and is a pioneer of community-based approaches to treatment and support. We offer evidence-based treatment for the whole spectrum of eating disorders: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder and OSFED. A comprehensive range of services is provided, from outpatient individual and group treatment packages for relatively mild-moderate cases of Bulimia Nervosa and Binge-eating disorder, through to intervention and case management of people with severe Anorexia Nervosa. Main duties of the job

The psychology post will provide strong opportunities for clinical leadership, supervision, service development and research combined with a commitment to excellence in clinical practice.  There is support for relevant specialist training and the opportunity to undertake sessional work in other related specialities to broaden experience.

We have strong working links with CMHTs, IAPT, Personality Disorder Service, Complex PTSD, Autism and ADHD services within the Trust and also with the Primary and Acute care sector. We are expanding our service to include staff from occupational therapy, family therapy, social work and peer support.

We are developing stronger links with third sector and community organisations and co-production with service users and carers is highly valued and central to our delivery.

Exciting new developments include the development of intensive home support and day programme for people with severe eating disorders and early intervention approaches (FREED - https://freedfromed.co.uk/ ). Further developments are sighted, including enhancing our pathways for individuals who experience neuro-diversity and are struggling with an eating disorder. We therefore welcome applicants with experience of working with people who have autistic spectrum conditions.

Working for our organisation

The Northamptonshire Eating Disorders Service is a county wide service with bases in Northampton (Campbell /Newland House) and Kettering (The Oakwood Centre). The main base for the service is in Northampton, but it is essential that the post holder can drive as the job involves travelling across the county. The EDS normal working hours are Monday to Friday 9-5. However, this post may demand flexible working practices reflecting the needs of clients at any given time. The service is now functioning as a hybrid of remote and in person interventions, and it is anticipated that this will continue into the future, as it has worked well in meeting in improving the flexibility in service delivery.

Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust rated "Outstanding" and is a great place to work. Northamptonshire is a pleasant area with a mix of rural and urban locations and is within easy distance of other key locations in the Midlands with excellent rail and road links.

These permanent posts benefit from a recruitment incentive of £5,000 pro rata for successful candidates over 2.5 years. Initial payment of £2,000 will be made in the 1st month with a subsequent payment of £2,000 made on the 13th month of employment.
