Job overview

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Band 2 Administrator to join our dynamic team. As an Administrator, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of the Diabetic Eye Screening Programme. Your responsibilities will include patient administration, data entry, appointment scheduling, and providing excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals. Please note that some manual handling is involved in this role.  The days of work will be 7.5 hours Mon, Tue, Thu and Fri 30 hours.  You will be expected to cover for holidays and sickness within the admin team.

Main duties of the job

Administrative Support: Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Diabetic Eye Screening Programme team.
Data Management: Accurately input and manage patient data using electronic systems.
Appointment Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Customer Service: Respond to patient and healthcare professional inquiries promptly and courteously.
Record Keeping: Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
Communication: Liaise with healthcare providers, patients, and team members to facilitate effective service delivery.
Manual Handling: Assist with the transportation and setup of equipment and materials as needed.

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English
Desirable criteria
  • Administrative qualifications or NVQ

Skills and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous administrative experience, preferably within a healthcare setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data entry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection principles.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience with healthcare administration systems.
  • Knowledge of diabetic eye screening or diabetic care services.
