Job overview

We are looking for a Registered Nurse to work as part of our Multiple Sclerosis Specialist Nursing Team

You will be based in Wellingborough, however; the post would require flexible working across the county to meet service need. This would include working from home, an office base, county wide clinics and home visits.

We are looking for someone with comprehensive nursing knowledge, skills, and experience. The ideal candidate would be passionate about community care, including the care of people with long term neurological conditions and/or Multiple Sclerosis. Have you had experience working in the community? Have you had experience working with people with MS? Are you keen to develop your clinical skills and specialist knowledge in a well-supported specialist nursing team?

This post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse wishing to specialise and develop their skills in; case management, assessment and long-term treatment of people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). As well as working collaboratively with a wide range of professionals to deliver education and advice to colleagues across the county.

You will be part of the Multiple Sclerosis Specialist Nursing (MSSN) team who offer education, symptom management, medicine management, advice and support to patients in North Northamptonshire with a confirmed diagnosis of MS.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing a specialist resource for individuals with MS, their relatives and carers, members of the general public, health professionals, statutory and voluntary bodies as appropriate.
  • To deliver clinics across multiple locations in the North of Northamptonshire and attend patients homes for home visits.
  • Working in partnership in the care of individuals with MS between a variety of services and settings.
  • Developing the knowledge of individuals with MS, their relatives and carers, members of the general public, health professionals, statutory and voluntary bodies about the management and symptoms associated with MS.
  • You will need a UK driving license and must be flexible to working in different localities within North Northamptonshire. 
  • Actively working with colleagues within the MSSN team to enhance the delivery of the care given to individuals with MS and help inform new practice.
  • A commitment to teaching and education is equally important, working across organizational boundaries to give staff specialist advice and guidance as required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BsC Adult Nursing or equivalent qualification
  • NMC Registered Adult Nurse
  • Full UK current & valid Driving License, have access to own car and ability to work flexibly across the county.
Desirable criteria
  • To have completed or be willing to complete MS Development Module (MS Trust)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial post registration nursing experience, minimum 2+ years
Desirable criteria
  • Community nursing experience
  • Understanding of MS, symptoms and treatments available
  • Autonomous clinician who demonstrates independence of thought
  • Experience of working with people with long term neurological conditions and/or MS
  • IT literacy and ability to proficiently navigate Systmone
