Job overview

The  Gedling Local Mental Health Team  (LMHT) are looking to recruit a compassionate and highly skilled Clinical Lead to join the LMHT management team. Working in collaboration with the Team Leader and members of the wider LMHT workforce, the Clinical Lead will be responsible for leading, monitoring and evaluating the clinical practice of the team driving towards clinical excellence. The post holder will provide and oversee clinical supervision and support the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high quality and safe patient centred care and provide senior clinical leadership within the service.

 

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinician Nursing/ Social Work/OT/Therapist/Other, with professional registration, to join our dynamic, well established Locality Mental Health Team

The post holder will be expected to lead on service transformation in line with the NHS Long Term Plan, co-produce and support the evolution of pathway interventions with the community mental services.  You will lead the development of pathways of care across the community mental health teams to embed and implement new ways of working.  You will also be expected to deliver approved training in line with the clinical pathways.  You will evidence active clinical and managerial leadership skills within the team, providing education and supervision to junior staff members and other professionals.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will exercise  senior clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care whilst working within the team. 

To participate in clinical leadership of the LMHT , working alongside the Team Leader and  in coordinating the team in the delivery of high-quality multidisciplinary care. 

You will ensure patients receive appropriate investigation, intervention and treatment with minimal avoidable delays, whilst improving the quality and experience of care.

In collaboration with the team leader monitor and lead improvements to standards of care through, supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidenced based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. 

The post holder will hold  qualification relevant to the LMHT Provision (Nursing/ Social Work/OT/Therapist/Other),  will use these skills  in collaboration with others to lead clinically in support of the delivery of high quality services to patients and families open to the service.

To be responsible for completing specialist mental health assessments and developing treatment plans as an autonomous practitioner and to monitor interventions, ensuring compliance in accordance with Trust policy.

To maintain professional standards, ensuring adherence to all relevant policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Professional Nursing/Clinical Qualification to degree level or equivalent
  • Maintains professional registration with appropriate professional body
  • Further specialist knowledge/post registration experience in specific service area or other formal training
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate continued professional development to maintain professional registration
  • Non-Medical prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards

Training

Essential criteria
  • Willingness to undertake new clinical practices, education and training that will enhance service delivery
Desirable criteria
  • The ability to deal with and resolve conflict

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates satisfactory clinical expertise for the banding
  • Specialist and area specific experience
  • Advanced knowledge of medication for the older adult with mental health issues

  • Awareness of national and local issues impacting of nursing care
  • Experience of clinical / managerial leadership within an MDT and own approach to management

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of current legislation and understanding of clinical risk assessments
  • Advanced knowledge of physical health problems in the older adult
