Trainee Finance Partner

Band 6

Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, studying, finance professional to join the Trusts Finance Corporate Services Team, playing a key role in shaping what our service delivery looks like and making a difference in the challenging financial environment, both now and in the future.

The applicant should currently be studying for their CCAB qualification and be looking to qualify within the next 2 and a half years. On achievement of the CCAB qualification and progression through a competency framework there will be the opportunity to progress to a Band 7 Finance Partner role.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the Corporate Services Division and provide comprehensive financial advice and support managers to understand the efficiency and effectiveness of resources within their control. They will need to be persuasive when dealing with conflicting priorities and ensure that financial opportunities and risks are quantified and understood at all levels of the Trust, and optimum value for money is achieved.

The Trainee Finance Partner will liaise closely with Divisional and Trust stakeholders in an outward-facing role to utilise their financial acumen to support in the development of annual plans, forecasts and identification of key risks and mitigations to delivery of the plan. You will be involved in influencing business decisions by providing support and challenge in the development of business cases for investment.

They should have excellent communication skills and the necessary personal qualities to engage effectively with Senior Managers and their teams. We are looking to bring in fresh views and new practices so, whilst previous NHS experience can be a strength, we are also keen to hear from those who have never considered working for the NHS before.

We offer a variety of employee-led staff networks, including Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) groups, the Green Champions network, the Freedom to Speak Up network, the Health and Wellbeing Champions network, and the Menopause Champions network. These networks play a vital role in supporting our diverse workforce and promoting a culture of inclusivity.

The health and wellbeing of our colleagues is a top priority. We invest significantly in this through our in-house occupational health and staff counselling services, supported by a dedicated Health and Wellbeing team.

The Trust is committed to reducing its carbon emissions, with a specialised Energy and Environmental team working to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, enhance our environmental performance, and achieve our net-zero commitment

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide comprehensive financial business advice and information in support of the Director, General Management and Budget Holders.  To be an integral part of the Directorate Management teams. To provide financial advice to the senior finance team on a range of issues relevant to the Directorates and the Trust as a whole. Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.
