Job overview

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our catering team at Blossomwood  Hospital to work in the Ward Kitchens supporting  the daily lunch and tea food service to patients.  

Previous experience of working within a  Catering environment is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

We have two 16 hour part time positions available working 2 hours a day to cover lunch and teatime food service seven days a week (including weekends and bank holidays).

Daily Shifts would be between 07:30am -  19:00pm  Shift pattern and rota will be discussed in more detail at interview.

Main duties of the job

Serving patients food at Lunch and Tea meal times, ensuring all equipment, utensils, working surfaces and areas are kept clean and tidy using correct cleaning methods, equipment and chemicals within the Ward Dining Room.

We have in-house training to help your personal development plans and will support you with all of your training needs.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Ensuring ward kitchens are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness following work schedules, method statements and procedures and food is served to patients within expected guidelines.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • An understanding of cleanliness and good hygiene practices
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate or to work towards within the 12 months of employment (site specific)
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised, support services qualification

Training

Essential criteria
  • Ability to undertake all mandatory training as required by the individual site
  • Ability to undertake any necessary skills and competency training required by the post

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to carry out instructions as detailed in the job description
Desirable criteria
  • Experience or working within a catering, portering or cleaning environment
  • Experience of working within healthcare environment
  • Experience of working within a food safety management system
