We have a brand new and exciting training opportunity for 2 multisector Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians.

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated and interested in developing a career in Pharmacy?

In this role you will train as and complete the necessary qualifications to register and work as a pharmacy technician.

This post is designed to give the trainee the technical experience and knowledge to be able to register and work as a Pharmacy Technician on completion of the two year training post and final assessment.

You will possess 5 G.C.S.Es or equivalent at grade 4 (C) or above to include English (language), Maths and two science subjects (dual award sciences acceptable).

This is a 2 year fixed term contract.

Hours are 37.5 per week, 7.5 hours per day worked flexibly between the hours of 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday subject to terms and conditions under the NHS Agenda for Change.

Under support and guidance of pharmacy, practice staff & through a structured rotational training program the post holder will develop knowledge, skills & competencies to achieve a General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) accredited  course within the apprenticeship pathway, to support registration with the GPhC.

Main duties of the job

Rotations include:

Working at NUH, covering various areas of pharmacy including dispensaries, wards & production units.  Over the rotation period you will gain the skills to accurately assemble medicines for prescriptions, provide medicines management for patients on a ward, thereby contributing to a safe and effective pharmacy service.

And then either:

General Practice in a PCN for a period of training defined in the training plan, responding to prescription requests, reviewing hospital discharge/clinic letters & reconciling medication against current medications highlighting discrepancies under supervision of a Pharmacist / Technician OR 

      NHCT Mental Health Services for a period of training as defined in the training plan - dispensing, checking, & issuing medicines, including controlled drugs, counselling patients, stock management, reconciliation of medicines, participating in rotational ward rounds & outpatient clinics, undertaking medication reviews & audits under the supervision of the Pharmacist/Technician

No previous experience in Pharmacy is required as full training will be given. We are looking for applicants who are eager to learn, able to organise and prioritise own work to meet deadlines, and able to work using own initiative.
