The post-holder will work closely with both the Chief Nurse, Deputy Chief Nurses and Assistant Directors of Nursing by providing business and strategic management support. This will involve steering, coordinating and leading/ delivering projects and activities as relevant to the priorities of the Trust (internally and externally) and producing documents, briefing papers, reports and visual presentation material as required. 

The post-holder will be expected to build positive relationships internally across the organisation and with external partners in support of the Trust’s objectives on behalf of the Chief Nurse Office and Institute of Care Excellence.

 As well as being dynamic, adaptive and responsive to ever-changing requirements, the Business Manager will be expected to operate proactively and to pre-empt the needs of the Chief Nurse Office and Institute of Care excellence. The post-holder will be responsible for identifying and managing urgent and contentious issues, ensuring that all are appropriately briefed. The Business Manager must be able to work autonomously whilst at the same time demonstrating a positive approach to multi-disciplinary working.

                Receive, analyse and communicate a wide range of highly complex and often sensitive and contentious information in order to propose recommendations to the Chief Nurse Office to enable strategic decision making. 

·              To lead/ manage projects and lead complex and strategic areas of work on behalf of the Chief Nurse Office/Institute of Care Excellence

·              To provide a specialist advisory role to the Chief Nurse Office/Institute of Care Excellence

·              Relay information verbally, written or in presentation format to Chief Nurse Office and relevant external parties

·              Present strategic, management and contract information in a clear and transparent fashion

·              To ensure that the Chief Nurse actions are delivered professionally and on time.

·        Ensures Chief Nurse, Deputy Chief Nurses and Assistant Directors of Nursing are appropriately briefed for business meetings and coordinate the effective delivery of any actions arising from meetings.

·              To lead and organise meetings, events and activities involving a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including where required.   

·        Build positive relationships across the organisation and with external partners in support of the Trust’s objectives on behalf of the Chief Nurse, Deputy Chief Nurses and Assistant Directors of Nursing.

Training and Qualifications

  • Educated to Master’s level in management arena or equivalent level of experience
  • Significant evidence of continued professional development
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications on this engagement
  • Knowledge/experience of project management inside or outside of the NHS

  • Demonstrated expertise in a Healthcare environment
  • Prince 2 practitioner or equivalent qualification in project or programme management

Experience

  • Previous experience of providing Executive support at a senior level in a commissioner and/or provider organisation.
  • Experience of working within high profile, fast paced environments.
  • Proven leadership skills and credibility.
  • Experience working across organisational boundaries in the Health Service.
  • Significant change management experience at service or organisational level.
  • Significant complex project and/or programme experience, involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivery of specific initiatives that have changed the delivery of healthcare for the better
  • Understanding of healthcare delivery models within a teaching hospital environment and experience of working with clinicians.
  • Demonstrable experience of close partnership and collaborative working (internally and externally)
  • Proven track record in delivery of sustainable results
  • Ability to use the Microsoft Office software package to a sufficiently high level that personal efficiency and effectiveness are enhanced and good communication is facilitated
