Job overview
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a medical laboratory assistant. They will support the scientific staff to deliver stem cell and cellular therapy receipt, processing and distribution for the bone marrow transplant and CAR-T programmes in Clinical Haematology at NUH.
There will be a variety of duties across the laboratory and team offices. Whilst we provide a planned service we adapt to our patient needs and so flexibility and adaptability are a must.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are:
· Receipt, preparation and storage of samples and cellular products
· Use, monitoring and maintaining laboratory equipment
· Stock management
Cleaning and environmental monitoring
· Associated administrative tasks
· Delivery and collection of items, including samples and products from across the hospital site.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Basic science qualifications, e.g. GCSE demonstrating basic numeric and literacy skills
- Previous laboratory experience or similar environment
Desirable criteria
- NVQ level 3 in clinical laboratory support or equivalent
Experience

- Basic computer literacy
- Stock Management
- Admin experience
- Logistics experience
Desirable criteria
- Previous practical experience of laboratory work
- Previous experience of NHS IT systems, careflow, NOTIS.

- Understanding of the importance of confidential or sensitive information
