We are thrilled that due to the expansion of the neonatal psychology service we are able to advertise for 2.6 wte to join our team. We are able to offer both full time and part-time permanent positions. There are exciting times ahead with the development of the new neonatal unit at QMC. This affords us lots of opportunities for service development. We recognise that neonatal psychology may be a new area of practice for most applicants and so additional training and building of competencies will be planned for the successful candidates. We are a nurturing and compassionate team that values a trauma-informed and family integrated approach. We are keen to hear from any qualified or soon to be qualified clinical psychologists with an interest in the area.
There has never been a more exciting time to join our neonatal team as we expand our neonatal service. The exciting Maternity and Neonatal Redesign programme is well underway.
The MNR will create;
A completely refurbished and expanded neonatal unit at the QMC, providing an additional 21 cots and taking the total cots at the QMC campus to 38
Brand new, state of the art equipment

The neonatal service in Nottingham provides tertiary level neonatal care for premature babies and their families at
Queen’s Medical Centre and City Hospital, the service is the north hub in the East Midlands for neonatal intensive care.
We are proud to offer both medical and surgical intensive care for extremely premature and very sick infants, as well as
having an integrated outreach team in place to support babies and families once they return home.
The post holder is required to work as a member of the neonatal services clinical psychology team which delivers care
on both City and QMC campuses.
The post holder will provide a specialist clinical psychology service to babies and their families or carers accessing
neonatal services; providing specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions; offering consultation
on psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the
overall framework of the department’s policies and procedures. To provide initial psychological intervention through
consultation and training to the multi-disciplinary team and relevant multi-agency networks. To use the highest quality
of psychological evidence and clinical accountability to inform and enable best practice.

- Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies or assessment methodologies
- Experience of working within a multicultural framework

Analytical and Judgement skills

- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management
- Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including both quantitative and qualitative methods.

- Knowledge of complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology

- Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to distressing situations
- Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice
- Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings
Physical Skills and Other

Training & Qualifications

- Current HCPC registration for Clinical Psychologist (or eligibility to qualify for registration in 2024)
- Completed (or due to complete in 2024) postgraduate doctoral level DClinPsy in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC

- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
Experience

- Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
- Experience of working with children or adults with physical health problems, or within maternity of perinatal mental health services
- Experience of carrying out and disseminating research

- Working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist in a related area of practice
