This 10 PA per week is designed as a Consultant Clinical Oncologist post with the following responsibilities in the radiotherapy and systemic therapy treatments in:
· Urological cancer (urothelial / prostate)
· Colorectal cancer
This post is also open to applicants from a medical oncology background and alterations can be made to the 10 PA job description by converting radiotherapy work to additional colorectal cancer work to suit a medical oncology applicant.
The post is based at Nottingham University Hospital, City Campus (NCH) with all the radiotherapy facilities based at this site.
Main duties of the job
You will work with advanced practice/consultant radiographers to deliver optimal techniques in urological radiotherapy planning and treatment delivery. NUH is a SABR centre and we also administer radium 223 treatment, in our nuclear medicine department. Currently we are participating in a wide variety of clinical trials including PACE C, PIVOTAL BOOST and PACE-NODES and we are in the process of setting up for PEARLS. We have PSMA PET imaging at NUH and we are aiming to set up a lutetium-177 service for advanced prostate cancer, in the future.
The role will be supported by two Uro-oncology nurse specialists, who have their own clinics and telephone support for patients with all stages of prostate and urothelial malignancies.
A consultant urology radiographer also supports the service with a separate patient list, and there is also support from Advanced pharmacy practitioners in reviewing patients on systemic treatment.
You will be joining an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team treating colorectal cancers at Nottingham City Hospital. NUH has an excellent colorectal cancer service, is a tertiary referral centre within the region for early and advanced disease, with an active programme in clinical research supported by tumour site specific research nurses. The colorectal cancer service at NUH continues to expand with specialised multi-professional meetings covering the full spectrum of colorectal cancer from early to advanced presentations.
