We have an excellent temporary opportunity for a highly skilled Data Warehouse Manager to join our team and to work help us drive forward the Trust’s Data Warehousing strategy whilst we are implementing a new Patient Administration System.

The successful candidate will be based at the City Hospital Campus, will be working closely with the current Data Warehouse Manager, and will be expected to provide both the day-to-day line-management as well as the technical leadership for a number of staff in the wider team; in addition, the role also encompasses a significant amount of hands-on involvement in all phases of the full development lifecycle for the Trust’s data warehousing and data migration projects.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and forward thinking individual who possesses highly expert technical knowledge of SQLServer, T-SQL, and SSIS, combined with excellent proven mentoring and leadership skills. Experience of working within a Quality Management System (ISO9001:2008 or similar), and knowledge of the NHS and NHS data structures would be highly advantageous.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Your work will be varied and interesting, encompassing e.g. line management and team leadership, the investigation of acquiring potential new datasets from various clinical systems into the Trust data warehouse, building new data pipelines, ongoing monitoring of existing packages, providing architectural and strategic advice, etc.

- Educated to Master’s degree level in an IT related discipline or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continued professional development within data warehousing and business intelligence discipline

Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven recent team management experience
- Extensive proven experience of designing and implementing data warehousing within a busy and large acute healthcare Trust with a complex applications landscape
- Highly expert in the use of T-SQL and the MS BI toolstack (in particular, SSMS and SSIS)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience of software development within a structured environment following Quality Management principles and encompassing the full software development lifecycle.
- Highly expert knowledge and experience of user requirements analysis and solution design
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with JSON and/or XML
- Practical experience in the use of other ETL tools such as Business Objects, Qlik, etc.
- Practical experience with data warehousing data from some or all of the main current NUH Trust systems, including (but not limited to) : Careflow PAS, NerveCentre, CRIS
Communication and Relationship skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent written communication skills (-1 for spelling mistakes, -1 for grammatical mistakes, -2 for unanswered questions, -2 for unclear/confused answers)
- Demonstrable experience in writing standards documents, best practice guides, etc.
