Audit Clerk

Working as part of the Critical Care Audit team the post holder will be responsible for completion, validation and submission of forms for the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC) which also involves the extensive and complex use of patient related information.

Additional responsibilities may include helping to complete and develop audit reports and processes within the Critical Care specialty, the retrieval and reporting of non-audit information for Critical Care, and covering for and assisting other members of the post holder’s immediate team as appropriate.

The audit clerk will be responsible for the collection of data from patient case notes, critical care charts, and the completion of forms for the Intensive Care National Audit and Research Centre (ICNARC) for Unit Funding and generating of Value Added Reports. This will require ward access though no direct patient care

 

Responsible for inputting and storing complex data and ability to concentrate when updating and maintaining patient computerised databases, e.g. ICNARC, Medicus, NotIS, Medway, Bluespier and Excel on a daily basis.

In addition to the main duties of the job, the audit clerk will be innovative, forward thinking and support the development process of automated systems that enable efficiency and increased productivity within the team and Trust ensuring systems and processes remain future proof.

 

They will support Standard Operating Procedures on data collection, KPI reporting, service line reporting to support the departments quality and financial targets.

 

They will also support the provision of information to support the activity planning and monitoring processes at service level in Critical Care, including the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each of the critical care units.

 

Ensure responsible storage and disposal of documentation generated which contains patient or unit sensitive information, ensuring the Trust’s Information Governance policy is adhered to at all times.

 

To be responsible for maintaining an accurate and up to date knowledge of all national guidelines and standards relating to the Division and Trust, and ensuring that the Division (and by extension the Trust) are working to achieve them.

 

Support system for Data Validation Reports (DVRs) by ensuring the validation and identification of missing data is retrieved and input into the database accordingly.

 

Support and promote data collection at all levels, including communicating any changes in procedure, redesigning data collection forms as required and raising awareness of the importance of clinical data collection.

 

Support the department in the collection of data and information for specific audit and outcome projects.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Experience

  • Previous experience with administration systems
  • Understanding of patient/client confidentiality
  • Experience of prioritising workloads and meeting daily targets

  • Experience in a similar role in managing and serving as an audit clerk in health records or health care services
  • Experience of CCMDS will be beneficial
  • Knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage
  • Good Knowledge of Medway PAS and other related Trust Hospital Systems such as NotIS
