We are delighted to announce that an opportunity has become available for permanent band 5 Dietitians to join our friendly team. We are an innovative dietetic department covering a wide range of specialties. The dietetic team work within the Therapy & Rehabilitation Services directorate, alongside physiotherapy, occupational therapy, SLT and orthotics & prosthetics services.
You will be a rotational dietitian working across both City and QMC campuses in clinical areas including stroke, care of the older person, oncology, respiratory, general medicine, surgery, rehabilitation and home enteral feeding. You will also be involved in activities such as cardiac rehabilitation groups and outpatient clinics. This will involve interacting with staff, patients, and relevant others utilising numerous communication techniques.
The role is suitable for new graduates, and those who have previous working experience. We also accept applications from those who are in their final year of Dietetic study. This is a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate to consolidate and advance their skills and knowledge in a range of clinical areas.

Main duties of the job
The role requires you to have a good general knowledge of nutrition and dietetics with clinical placement experience in order to sufficiently provide dietetic care across a range of medical wards, as well as outpatient clinics with training as appropriate.
All newly-qualified AHPs are enrolled in NUH’s therapy services’ preceptorship programme which supports the transition from newly-registered professional, to competent practitioner.
You’ll need to have excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to manage your own workload under pressure. We are looking for professional, confident, enthusiastic, driven and motivated individuals, who are team players, keen to develop skills. We expect all staff to have the ability to work to high standards, as well as being able to recognise personal and role limitations.
We have close links with the University of Nottingham, and take student dietitians for A, B and C placements.

To provide a clinically effective Dietetic and Nutrition Service in allocated area, including assessment and advice/treatment.
To acts as a source of expertise on Dietetics and Nutrition for other staff, carers, clients and patients including the provision of education and training.
To work as a member of a departmental team and member of the multidisciplinary team with the support of team leader and colleagues. The post holder may be based on either campus (QMC campus and/or City campus) of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Person specification
Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Qualified Dietitian (4 year degree, post-graduate diploma or equivalent).
- Registered with the Health Professions Council.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with people, including dietetic clinical placements and the general public.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working as a registered dietitian
Communication and relationship
Essential criteria
- Good verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills including explaining, negotiating, motivating and training.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
