Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a full-time ENT Consultant with expertise in Oncological Head and Neck Surgery for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting new full time post attracting 10 programmed activities (PAs). The successful applicant will be based at NUH although he/she may periodically be asked to provide support to King’s Mill Hospital. The service provides a comprehensive Head & Neck service to at least 2.5 million residents of Nottingham, Mansfield and Lincolnshire.

The Head and Neck oncological surgical service is currently provided by 3 oncological ENT Consultants and three Maxillofacial  Consultants. In addition, we have at least 2 other ENT consultants who undertake office-based procedures like transnasal oesophagoscopy (TNO) and laryngopharyngeal biopsies in the outpatient setting.

The successful candidate will join a well established enthusiastic, friendly multidisciplinary and multiprofessional team.  For major head neck resections +/- reconstruction, ENT consultants often double up. For those with significant experience and interest, there is an opportunity to develop the Trans-oral Robotic Surgery (TORS), transoral laser resection and participate in microvascular flap reconstruction.

The post holder will work closely with colleagues from all related disciplines such as Maxillofacial team, Head & Neck Oncology, Speech & Language Therapy. Development of a research and academic program will be encouraged.
