Job overview
The post-holder will be responsible for providing a catering and cleaning service within the Central Production Kitchen (CPU) and outlying catering outlets.
The post-holder will assist with the production of all meals with the Central Production Kitchen (CPU) and other outlying catering units within the department.
The post-holder will also be required to provide a catering service in accordance with the Food Safety Regulations and Food Hygiene Regulations.
The post holder will have their main base of work on either campus, City Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre or Ropewalk House however there may be occasions to cover another area.
Main duties of the job
Amongst other tasks, the post holder will be required to ebsure:
Food Safety procedure adherence and recording HACCP data; receiving, quality checking and storing deliveries; monitoring and exercising stock rotation.
Food Production preparation according to standard recipes; support food production tp the catering team; portioning of foods; sealing, labelling, chilling and blast freezing of food; be aware of patient special dietary requirements and that these are followed.
Food Service Preparation by receiving / unloading / cleaning / storage of meal trolleys; loading of meal trolleys in preparation for each meal service; delivering food to wards and departments as required.
Cleaning is provided to a high standard in the CPU and other catering units (walls, floors, doors, surfaces, gullies / drains, fixtures and fittings; perform deep cleaning tasks as required; replenishing of cleaning materials; reporting any maintenance issues; emptying of bins and disposal of boxes and waste; use wet scrub machinery; stripping and cleaning of slicing machinery; use and clean deep fat machine as required.

Training & Qualification
Essential criteria
- Good basic level of secondary education
- Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent experience/training
- Knowledge of advanced food hygiene processes
- Knowledge of cleaning/hygiene COSHH procedures
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working in a customer/patient focused environment
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with individuals who have special diets including texture modified foo
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
