This means;

  • A 14 bedded female only ward specifically for surgical elective Gynaecology and Gynae-oncology patients

The Gynaecology speciality  is unique to other specialities as it encompasses emergency care, surgical care, medical care and oncology care. NUH gynaecology provides a tertiary service for a number of subspecialties and there is also a large community gynaecology service. In addition gynaecology  supports maternity services by caring for  pregnancy complications under 20 weeks and labour ward emergencies such as life-threatening haemorrhage.  

Loxley ward is a 14 bedded female only ward specifically for surgical elective Gynaecology and Gynae-oncology patients.

As a HCA you will support in delivering high quality, evidence – based care.  You will support clinical  governance, and help facilitate the modernisation of patient services. You will help ensure that standards and the quality of care including the environment in which they are delivered, are maintained and improved.

In collaboration with all members of the multi-professional team, you will help ensure that the patient has a satisfactory experience. This role will cover days, weekends and nights.

  • NVQ/QCF 3 in Health evidence of professional development. Completed HCA academy at NUH. Completed care certificate

Experience

  • Previous experience in health care setting. Experience working in gynaecology-oncology ward. Completion of cannulation, venepuncture and ECG packages.

  • Previous experience in dealing with customers, patients or clients in a work environment

Communication and Relationship Skills

  • Demonstrate a clear and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to pass on information accurately. Ability to recognize own level of competence and limitations and being able to communicate these to appropriate staff.

  • Demonstatre computer literacy & use of IT skills- e.g. email, excel, powerpoint and word format. Ability to demonstrate working within a team and provide evidence of being an efficient team member. Demonstrates ability to communicate with the multidisciplinary team.
