Band 6

Job overview

Do you want a career with growth, progression and empowerment?  There has never been a more exciting time to join our Reproductive Health team as we expand our Gynaecology service.  Exciting estates developments at the City Campus site means Gynaecology has been given the opportunity to have a designated ward. This means;

  • A 14 bedded female only ward specifically for surgical elective Gynaecology and Gynaecology patients
  • A good working environment for staff
  • A highly skilled and talented multidisciplinary workforce, which will provide excellent guidance, support and training
  • Part of a service that is striving towards implementing a NUH Women’s Health Strategy

We’re looking for compassionate, ambitious, and forward thinking people to join our team.  With so many opportunities for self-development and progression we need people who want to learn and inspire others.  We need people who have a voice and want to use it to drive positive change and people who love a challenge and want to be part of transformation.

Your skills and talents as a nurse will help ensure the women of Nottinghamshire receive the unparalleled quality care they deserve and in return, you’ll find a rewarding career full of opportunity and open doors.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse.

Main duties of the job

As Deputy Ward Sister/Charge Nurse you will  have responsibility in ensuring that patients and users are involved in their care.  Providing visible evidence that their feedback is used to maintain standards or implement improvements that have an effect on their care.

You will be an effective leader and role model, providing regular direct clinical care, in addition to ensuring effective use of non-clinical time to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance, facilitating the modernisation of patient services.

Have  responsibility for managing staff, ensuring that standards and the quality of care including the environment in which they are delivered, are maintained and improved.

Ensure high quality, evidence – based care is offered to all patients. In collaboration with the Matron and Ward Manger, identify the common issues which affect the quality of care, developing clear action plans to address any areas for improvement and ensure agreed actions are undertaken.

In collaboration with all members of the multi-professional team, ensure that the patient has a satisfactory experience, ensuring that ongoing evaluation of patient processes are in place and pathways of care are redesigned as appropriate. This role will cover days, weekends and nights.

Working for our organisation
