We are excited to be able to offer an Administration Apprenticeship opportunity working within the Gastroenterology Administration Department based at the City Hospital Campus of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. 

Main duties of the job

Working as part of an existing team, the post holder will support the Gastroenterology Department administration team in the provision of a high quality administrative service to our consultants, nurses and patients.

The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a flexible approach to the role, providing administrative support for the specialty.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Functional skills level 1 in English, Maths and ICT
Desirable criteria
  • GCSE Grade C / Grade 4 or above in English and Maths
  • QCF in Business Administration Level 1 or Customer Care or equivalent

Planning/Organisational Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good attendance and timekeeping
  • Able to organise own day to day work tasks or activities when work is allocated
  • Is able to use tools to assist with own workload such as electronic diary system

Analytical/Judgement Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work in a non-discriminatory manner to ensure equal opportunities / work sensitively with a diverse group of people
  • Able to make judgments involving straightforward facts or situations
  • Able to make judgments concerning own work

Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to provide information to manager and colleagues (verbally and electronically) as required and answer routine queries from colleagues and patients
  • Demonstrates understanding of patient/client confidentiality
  • Able to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers both face to face and in writing
  • Able to take telephone calls in a professional manner and follow up actions as set out in own role
  • Able to communicate and put forward ideas in team meetings and one to ones

Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working within an administrative setting in either a paid or voluntary setting

Physical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Use VDU equipment for a substantial part of the day
  • Frequent concentration required for data inputting and checking information under guidance
  • Able to travel between sites using Medilink bus
  • Able to transport boxes of stationery and Pathology supplies to and from the office

Other requirements specific to the role

Essential criteria
  • You will have a genuine interest in a career working in services for people, specifically within the NHS / a healthcare setting
  • With notice, be able to work flexibly in terms of early start / later finishes
