Main duties of the job

Act as first point of contact for all of our service users and visitors to the department, providing a comprehensive reception and clerical service to patients, relatives and carers

Contacting patients to book and cancel appointments

Adhere to departmental policies and procedures and participate in audits in order to maintain data quality and provide an efficient service

Deal with sensitive information in a professional manner

Provide non-clinical advice and information to patients to enhance their experience within the service

Where appropriate accurately log patient information onto the relevant Trust information system and ensure that patient records are effectively maintained

Distribute patient records and information to other members of the multidisciplinary team as appropriate

Ensuring adequate stocks of stationery and clinical equipment, ordering as required and check and receipt goods received

Assist other clinical, reception or administrative staff in undertaking other duties such as photocopying, filing and sending letters

To liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team to maintain the smooth and efficient running of the department

Update information on notice boards

Liaison with wheelchair contractor regarding orders, deliveries and collections

Support wheelchair service in ordering and delivery of wheelchairs

Working for our organisation

The wheelchair and amputee service sits in the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services Pathway in the Clinical Support Division at NUH.

We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff who work together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to.

Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists, and our other staff encompass professionals such as nurses, psychologists, administrative and clerical and support workers.

We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.
