Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Ward Receptionist to join a diverse and motivated team that are dedicated to the development of skills and the delivery of high quality safe care. The post is on labour suite at QMC.

As the Ward Receptionist, you will often be the first point of contact for patients and visitors when entering the ward so a friendly, welcoming smile and excellent communication skills are essential.

As a caring and positive person, you will need to be able to work as part of an established team, have the ability to work flexibly and be committed to ensuring the smooth running of reception.

We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, content with working in a busy environment and who has good time management skills.

You must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. It is essential that you act professionally at all times.

Main duties of the job

Tasks will include but not be limited to fulfilling all necessary reception, clerical, administrative and general tasks required to facilitate and record patient   information using  technology systems. Staff are expected to be courteous and considerate at all times and have excellent customer care skills.

After appropriate training, the post holder will be required to utilise the hospital Medway PAS computer system to capture and update necessary data, and to use the case note tracing system to accurately record the movement of paper based health records.

The role requires close liaison with other services within NUH and the provision of a courteous, reliable and quality consumer service to patients, relatives and carers, healthcare professionals, internal departments and outside organisations

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This role involves the maintenance of patient records, liaising and communicating with the multidisciplinary team, patients and families, maintaining and upholding Trust values including following policies and procedures and supporting the ward area with general duties to maintain standards including health and safety and infection prevention.
