A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Occupational Health Specialist Nurse Practitioner with a post registration qualification (Degree/Master’s) in Occupational health. To join the senior nursing team of the Occupational Health service at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust on a full time basis. 

With applications, now being invited from suitably qualified specialist occupational health nurse practitioners who are confident and effective communicators that have experience of delivering occupational health in a variety of settings; this should include previous NHS experience. You will be part of a large multidisciplinary team and as such good interpersonal skills are necessary.

 

 

Main duties of the job

Key Elements of the role;

  • Provision of leadership and line management responsibility to the Occupational health clinical team
  • Provide the full range of Occupational Health Services to trust employees, other NHS organisations and external clients
  • Provide comprehensive advise & reports advising on all aspects of Occupational Health; including sickness absence and case management/return to work advice for employees referred to the service by managers & HR
  • Maintain effective communication with client’s, managers and other professional groups within the organisation and to external clients
  • Support the department with its SEQOHS accreditation
  • Experience of leading on clinical audit
  • Experience of the reviewing and writing of departmental standard operating procedures    

We are a paper light department so excellent IT skills are a must and you will also need to be comfortable communicating with clients both face to face but also virtually e.g. telephone and emails.

You will work from our departments based on the Queen’s Medical Centre and City Hospital Campus but you should be be willing to travel to cover occasional clinics at external locations.

Person Specification;

Essential; 

  • Current UK NMC registration on parts 1& 3
  • Registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse  Occupational Health (SCPHN-OH)

Desirable;

  • NEBOSH Certificate/or equivalent safety qualification
  • Management or leadership qualification

Experience;

Essential

  • 2 year’s post registration experience in adult nursing and 5 years in Occupational Health nursing including experience of working Band7 or equivalent outside the NHS 
  • Experience of NHS Occupational Health  
  • Experience of the development and review of standard operating protocols

Desirable;

  • Experience of participation in SEQOHS accreditation
  • Experience of leading clinical audit
  • Experience of NHS Occupational Health
  • Experience of HAVS tier 3 /PFT/Audiometry/BCG vaccination/undertaking workplace assessments

Other;

  • Flexible in hours of working and work location to meet service needs
  • Provide timely and comprehensive reports re sickness absence management
  • Full current driving licence and/or ability to travel to client and OH sites in Nottinghamshire
