This is an exciting opportunity to join the Ophthalmology team within the Ambulatory Care Division of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
We are looking to appoint to the following post;
Outpatient Receptionist
Band 2
Full time - 37.5 hours per week
Monday- Friday between the hours of 8am - 6pm. Due to ever increasing demands on our service there will be a need for weekend working in the near future.
Ideally the successful candidate will have customer service experience and knowledge of working within an outpatient environment.

Main duties of the job
The role includes working on a busy outpatient reception desk. You will be the first point of contact for patients, family and staff coming into the department. The main elements to the role are;
Meet patients, check and update personal information
Booking appointments
Deal with queries from patients and staff face to face and telephone
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Ensure clinic outcomes are recorded in a timely manner
Present a professional, polite and courteous attitude at all times

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- To be educated to GCSE or equivalent standard including Maths and English
Communication and Relationship skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to develop good working relationships with medical and other hospital staff at all levels
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with staff and the public at all levels.
Analytical and Judgement skills
Essential criteria
- Uses own initiative
Planning and organisation skills
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates an ability to organise own work schedule
- Remains calm and co-operative under pressure or in difficult situations
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
