Job overview
This is an opportunity to work at band 7 level leading the out patient team within the OP Physiotherapy Service on the City Campus for a 9 month fixed term (or secondment with line manager's permission) to cover a maternity leave.
The post holder will lead and manage a team of physiotherapists to deliver high quality evidence based assessment and treatment skills to rehabilitate musculoskeletal patients, who will have a wide variety of lower limb musculoskeletal conditions. You need to possess excellent communication skills and negotiation skills in order to deal with these patients, as well as the physiotherapy team. You will need to be able to understand the relevant conditions, as well as pain, and be able to explain this to other staff and your patients. Teaching others will be part of your role and training for you will be provided as required.
You will need to be able to work rostered weekends and be part of the HIT process for short notice cover.
NUH supports 7 day working and you will be required to work flexibly across 7 days and across campus as required to meet the needs of therapy services

Therapies and Rehabilitation Services is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff who work together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to.
Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists, and our other staff encompass professionals such as nurses, psychologists, administrative and clerical and support workers.
We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Undertake evidence based assessment of patients, having a flexible approach to the delivery of care
Develop evidenced based holistic treatment plans for individuals with complex needs, enabling individuals, carers and families to contribute to the plan.
Establish effective working relationships and communicate with the wider MDT, patients, families and carers.
Provide team leadership to a big team and manage them appropriately using leadership and management skills and appropriate Trust policies
Proactively advocate for patients with complex needs.
Proactively work with patients promoting self-management empowering them to make choices about their future management.
Have overall responsibility for the management of a complex clinical caseload
Liaise with clinical colleagues from all specialties regarding assessment of patient needs prior to transfer of care
