Job overview
We are looking for a Physiotherapist with recent relevant clinical experience who has a passion for working in the specialty of Health care of Older People.
This is a well-established role where you will be expected to work flexibly across the team as the service demands at Queens Medical Centre site or City campus site of NUH.
The successful candidate will have a broad range of skills including acute experience as a qualified Physiotherapist in the core areas of Respiratory, Health Care of the Older Person, Neurology and MSK- whether this be inpatient in the form of Trauma and orthopaedics or outpatient MSK.
You will have the opportunity to move through the following aspects of the team: Health Care of the Elder Person (both at QMC and City Hospital Campuses) on base wards; Complex Dementia Care with Elderly Mental Health and Acute Medical Admissions Unit.
This is a permanent post where we welcome part time applicants.

Main duties of the job
NUH is a large Acute Teaching Hospital and this post will allow you to work in many specialist areas with a huge variety of patients and to work alongside many experienced Clinicians. You will be expected to work collaboratively across the MDT with a wide range of Health Care Professionals.
You will have excellent communication and team working skills. You will have a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and workload in what is a fast paced working environment. The post has a requirement that you manage and support Band 5’s, Support Staff and Students on Clinical Placement allowing you to develop your leadership, managerial and teaching skills. You will need to lead the Team in the absence of the Band 7s.
There is a requirement that you participate in weekend and emergency overnight on-call duties. Previous Respiratory on-call experience is essential.

Essential criteria
- BSc honours or equivalent in Physiotherapy
- Evidence of maintaining professional competence through C.P.D.
- State Registered and HCPC.
- Evidence of post-graduate training in specialty.
Desirable criteria
- Member of CIG
- First line management course.
- Clinical Educators Course.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Broad based junior rotational experience with an acute in-patient focus
- Possession of specific knowledge, technical skills and experience in acute in-patient areas to include respiratory, neurology and orthopaedics
- Experience in evaluation of practice. Appraisal of performance.

- Previous Band 6 Experience.
- Experience of audit.
