To provide a friendly, courteous and efficient service to patients,  carers and all referrers into the Radiology service when booking and co-ordinating appointments.

To co-ordinate the bookings of patients who require Radiological procedures, following the Radiology standard operating procedures, ensuring that all referrals received are processed within 24 hours and ensuring appointments are booked in accordance with the correct RTT targets.

Using various Trust IT systems, inclusive of CRIS, Careflow, Medical Office, Bluespier.

The post holder will be required to liaise with a number of consultant Radiologists across varying specialties.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering a high-quality service to the radiology department and should demonstrate excellent communication skills, a good telephone manner with the ability to show initiative is essential. You will have the ability to accurately convey verbal and written information. You must be well motivated and reliable, with a 'can do' attitude.

Due to the sensitivity of the role, you will need to be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of confidentiality issues.

We are looking for 2x outpatient administrators.  The post holder will work as part of a combined CT Radiology administrative team, and will be responsible for arranging and coordinating the booking of patients referred to Radiology for CT specialist procedures.

Following standard booking procedures the post holder will be required to exercise judgement and initiative to ensure that all referrals are prioritised, processed efficiently to meet the internal and external targets relating to the relevant patients pathway.

The post holder will ensure close liaison with the multi-disciplinary team in Radiology as well as wards, GP surgeries, outpatient clinics, patients and nursing medical/administrative staff in order to provide a prompt patient focused service and maintain good relations with internal and external referrers into the service. 

The post holder should possess the ability to use his/her initiative, working without direct supervision, organising and taking control of specified duties, escalating where necessary to the Deputy Service Administration Manager.  It is essential that the post holder is aware of the need for flexible working arrangements. as we run a 7 day a week service from 8.00am-6.00pm.  They may be required to work at any of the NUH Campuses, including the Treatment Centre.  Weekend working may also be required as part of the role.

  • A to C grade GCSE's or equivalent including English and Maths
  • Experience in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • NVQ level 2 in administration related subject or equivalent experience
