The East Midlands Sarcoma Service has an exciting opportunity for a nurse to join a highly specialist, passionate team in an ideal role for someone looking for a change or new challenge.
The Sarcoma Team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse to join our friendly and supportive team as a Clinical Specialist Nurse. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work at one of fifteen specialised sarcoma centres in England and Wales within a well-developed yet expanding team where you can enhance and develop your knowledge with support from enthusiastic colleagues. Due to the specialised nature of this work, no specific sarcoma experience is necessary.

The East Midlands Sarcoma Service manage in excess of 150 new soft tissue sarcoma per year but also investigate hundreds of people who they are able to reassure do not have cancer.
The Clinical Specialist Nurse will support patients predominantly from referral through to diagnosis, supporting patients through an anxious time. There will be a focus on early diagnosis to achieve cancer targets and improve patient outcomes. They will provide expert advice and co-ordinate complex diagnostic pathways. They will be an integral member of the sarcoma MDT, working closely with Consultant surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, histopathologists as well as the Clinical Nurse Specialists, Specialist AHPs and administrative teams.
The Clinical Specialist Nurse will be trained to run independent nurse led clinics and will need to form a relationship with patients along their journey and to present information to the multidisciplinary team. They will independently manage nurse led protocolised pathways for benign soft tissue tumours. Applicants will therefore need to have highly developed communication skills and be able to work autonomously, seeking support as required
There will be opportunity to be involved in our newly developed Whole Genomic Sequencing pathway as well service improvement projects, research and education of other healthcare professionals. Team members are well supported by experienced colleagues, with regular clinical supervision &always have access to senior advice.

It is essential that you are able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to support the development of the service. The successful applicant needs to have excellent organisational and time management skills with an aptitude for problem solving. You must have excellent clinical knowledge and skills. You will need to be a good communicator, be self-motivated, provide high standards of clinical skills and have the ability to influence and drive innovative practice within a face growing and exciting speciality setting

Working hours are generally 9-5, Monday to Friday although some flexibility is available, providing requests work with the needs of the service.
