An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring individual to be part of a new Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) team based within the East Midlands region. This post will work alongside the Spinal Cord Injury Clinical Lead and the Spinal Cord Injury specialists based at Princess Royal Spinal Cord Injury Centre based in Sheffield in delivering high quality care to spinal cord injury patients based within Nottingham University Hospitals Trust and the surrounding rehabilitation settings across the Nottinghamshire region.

The role of the Spinal Cord Injury Practitioner is to work alongside a variety of healthcare professionals across multiple specialities supporting the provision of high quality care for those who present with spinal cord injury. Candidates must demonstrate excellent leadership and communication skills and ability to confidently liaise with all partners to ensure the safe, timely care of patients in our care.

The successful applicant must be willing, dynamic and motivated to meet the challenges and the needs in the development of this new team and must demonstrate knowledge, expertise and passion in working within the speciality of spinal cord injury.

The post holder has continuing responsibility and accountability for the management and delivery of specialist care to patients with Spinal Cord injury; the assessment of care needs, the planning, collaborative development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting of standards of care for spinal cord injured patients throughout Nottinghamshire.

  • • Relevant experience at band 6 or above in caring for patients with Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).
  • • Demonstrate SCI related CPD
  • • Evidence/completion of post graduate education/ experience

  • • Relevant SCI courses
  • • Master’s level study in relevant health related subject or willingness to undertake

Experience

  • • Experience in managing patients with an acute spinal cord injury and rehabilitation or equivalent
  • • Specialist knowledge of clinical area.

Communication and Relationship Skills
