Full-time Band 5 Theatre Practitioner in Elective Orthopaedic Theatres

Ensure the highest standards of care and safety within the Elective Orthopaedic Theatres and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary teams, implement and maintain systems and processes which ensure standards are maintained

Main duties of the job

Support colleagues and foster a learning culture which values high quality safe patient care

Work in partnership with Orthopaedic colleagues to ensure multi-disciplinary team work in achieving agreed, common goals / outcomes across the Elective Orthopaedic service

Flexibility and strong organisational skills

Enthusiastic and motivated to improve services

Effective communication skills

Ability to interact effectively with peers and junior and senior colleagues   

Willingness to learn a variety of theatre skills and engage in departmental link roles

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current level one NMC registration or HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate an ability to assess, plan, deliver, prioritise and evaluate patient care. Ability to identify own learning needs. Demonstrate an understanding of the Theatre/Recovery role

Physical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Dexterity and accuracy in undertaking clinical skills, use of equipment and documentation Competent and capable of using medical equipment Able to undertake patient manual handling manoeuvres and non-patient manual handling manoeuvres

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Supervision of non-registered staff and students
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of ability to mentor Demonstrate an involvement in link nurse or project work

Communication & relationship skill

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills Recognition of own level of competence and limitations and able to communicate these to appropriate staff
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate team working and ability to work within a team
