Job overview

The post holder will work alongside colleagues within the MDT to provide evidence-based treatment to the young people and families throughout Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County who present with a significant eating disorder.  The MDT meet on a weekly basis to consider all referrals into the team; discuss assessments and for complex case discussion, of which the post holder will contribute to this and bring their knowledge and expertise to support the team processes and reflections.

You will offer specialist assessment and treatment for young people who present with a significant eating disorder.  You will provide liaison, consultation and support to other agencies and work closely with our partners in paediatrics, inpatient/wider CAMHS.  You will be supported to take on a leadership role to ensure service development and provide leadership cover when required to support the service lead.  You will offer support and supervision to more junior colleagues, students, and trainees.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide high quality Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy to Children, Young People and families in receipt of a Community CYP ED service. To supervise and support the application of CBT provided by other team members within the Community CYP ED Team. To become involved in research and audit, contribute to service training and further development of CBT within wider Community CAMHS Teams.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. 

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate professional registered qualification e.g., RMN, Social Worker or equivalent qualification (e.g., CYP Wellbeing Practitioner or Educational Mental Health Practitioner)
  • Membership of a registered statutory body e.g., NMC (if relevant)
  • MSc qualification in CBT or recognised equivalent as accredited by BABCP
  • Practitioner Accreditation or Full Accreditation with BABCP (or working towards, in which case applicant will be paid at top of band 6 until accreditation is in place)
Desirable criteria
  • Children and Young People’s CBT qualification
  • CBT Supervision qualification
  • CBT Supervisor Accreditation

Training

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • To have undertaken statutory child safeguarding training
  • Willingness to attend CBT Supervisor Training, as required
Desirable criteria
  • Trained in delivery of clinical supervision
  • Further training specific to area e.g., CBT-AR, EMDR

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with young people with mental health difficulties or relevant transferable experience
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within CAMHS
  • Experience of working with young people with complex mental health difficulties/Eating Disorders
  • Experience of working within a Multi-disciplinary Team
  • Experience of working in community settings

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of NICE guidelines for mental health difficulties
  • Understanding of working with young people who have a Mental Health Disorders
  • Knowledge and experience of the provision of mental health assessment for young people
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
  • Skills in assessment and CBT treatment
  • Experience of using ROMs
  • Ability to manage a defined caseload, and organise own work schedule
  • Ability to be a clear and effective communicator with young people and their families, and clinical peers and other professionals
  • Ability to be autonomous practitioner, whilst being able to work as an integral part of the MDT
  • Demonstrate leadership skills e.g., willingness to deputise for Team Leads, chair meetings
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with young people and their families, and clinical peers and other professionals
