Clinical Psychologist

This a great opportunity to join a psychologically minded, highly skilled MDT.  There is responsibility with the post for promoting psychological approaches and formulation within the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be expected to be skilled in highly specialised psychological therapies for eating disorders and to be able to deliver these for people with severe and enduring eating disorder presentations. 

The post has a broader purpose of promoting psychology through the supervision of trainee clinical psychologists, clinical apprentices, assistant psychologists and placement students. The post holder will be required to continue to lead psychological thinking regionally through the East Midlands Provider Collaborative.

The post holder will be a member of the Nottinghamshire Eating Disorder Service, which serves the residents of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. The service provides multidisciplinary community-based support.  The post holder will provide leadership and support in team development and developing clinical practice, and will provide supervision individually and in groups. The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures. The post holder will co ordinate and manage a complex caseload of patients and will provide support to other team members in helping them review and formulate patient needs.

  • • Current Registration with the HCPC

Training

  • • Evidence for post-qualification specialist training relevant to Eating Disorders (e.g. CBT-E, MANTRA, SSCM)
  • • Advanced knowledge, experience and expertise in at least one specialist area of clinical practice gained though post-qualification specialist training and supervised practice (e.g. CBT, CFT, CAT, IPT)

  • Further relevant post qualification training including: CBT-E •MANTRA •SSCM •CFT-E
  • Training related to ASD and neurodiversity

Experience

  • • Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist with adults with severe and complex mental health needs.
  • • Experience of providing specialist clinical psychology services to adult service users and their families / care systems. .
  • • Working with a wide range of populations including clients from BME groups.
  • • Experience of consultation and training across adult mental health services and other third sector services supporting people with complex mental health needs and their families
  • • Experience of multi-agency working in planning and delivering patient care.
  • • Provision of clinical supervision and training to junior clinical psychologists and practitioners from other professional groups

Knowledge

  • • Knowledge of the Safeguarding protocol.
  • • Knowledge of the assessment and evidenced based treatment of mental health difficulties relevant to Community ED and across a broad age

Skills

  • • Specialist skills in establishing and developing therapeutic relationships with clients with complex clinical presentations.
  • • To communicate in skilled and sensitive manner information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment options of clients.
  • • Research and Audit skills to evidence the efficacy of specialist interventions, in conjunction with Team Leads and to evaluate patient experience including the development of appropriate outcomes measure for the service.
  • • Appropriate IT skills
