An exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Control Centre Assistant post to work within the Security Department at Rampton Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The main Control Centre forms the only access and egress points in and out of Rampton hospital, it is the first line of security and operates within a wider Security Department ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, contractors and staff across the Rampton hospital site.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a Control Centre Assistant, you will work as a member of a large team in both Reception and Control Room within a high secure Hospital. You will operate a variety of complex access and egress systems which will contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, contractors and staff. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be capable of working in a people orientated environment within a secure setting.   

You will provide a front facing service offering information and advice to a wide range of customers with different needs – hospital staff, contractors, professional and social visitors in challenging situations. You will be required to work as part of a flexible team working shifts over a 24 day, 365 days per year which will include weekend, bank holiday and night working.

You will provide a reception and security service to the Hospital, operate specific security systems and equipment within the Entry Building in both Reception and Control Room, including-
X-Ray machines
Metal detection equipment
Microsearch electronic heartbeat detector system for Vehicle searches.
Operation of the Visitor, Contractor and Staff computerised access systems.
You will carry out searching of staff, patients, contractors and visitors, both persons and property as instructed by a Team Leader. 
Operating the digital radio system, monitoring CCTV. 
You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and IT skills as well as being highly motivated and willing to adopt a flexible approach to working practice.  
Carry out checks of the perimeter fence reporting any findings to the Duty Team Leader.
GCSE or equivalent with grades from A-D with IT knowledge.
Excellent communication skills verbal and written. Work on own initiative with minimal supervision.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.
