Position: Senior Healthcare Support Worker
Ward 51 at King’s Mill Hospital is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join our bustling ward. Our ward accommodates 24 patients in a combination of bays and en suite rooms, providing a dynamic environment that ensures a diverse and rewarding experience.
Ward 51 is home to a well-established medical team and ward-based multidisciplinary staff who work collaboratively to deliver patient-centered care. Our nursing team is known for its friendliness, support, and commitment to sharing skills and knowledge with new and junior staff members. We pride ourselves on offering an excellent clinical area with numerous opportunities for professional growth.

Person specification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate good communication skills and understanding of basic requirements for individual patient care
- Recognise people’s right to privacy and dignity, treating every person with respect
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of Safeguarding issues.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ 3 in care or willingness to work towards. Educated to a good standard of general education equivalent to GCSE Maths & English level C or above
- Care Certificate or commitment to achieving within 2 weeks of commencement
Desirable criteria
- “Care Certificate” qualification.
Further Training
Essential criteria
- Able to attend a 3-day Clinical Induction
- Committed to attending further training and development as identified
Experience
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate clear and robust verbal and written English communication skills
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Previous care work experience
- Previous face-to-face customer care experience
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in a hospital setting
Contractual Requirements
Essential criteria
- Flexible approach
- Able to work flexibly on a varied shift pattern according to the roster including nights and weekends
