Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our enthusiastic and motivated therapy team.
The Amputee Rehabilitation Team include static and rotational Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Generic Therapy Assistant. We provide specialist rehabilitation to adults with major lower limb amputation. We are based at King’s Mill Hospital and assess and manage patients across the entire pathway from pre-amputation consultation, through acute post-operative inpatient stay, to out-patient prosthetic rehabilitation as well as support to long term established patients who require therapy input.
In this exciting and innovative role, you will be the static senior Occupational Therapist providing high quality care within the amputation rehabilitation service, with the opportunity to develop both clinical and leadership skills.

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to prioritise & work under pressure
- Sound Clinical knowledge of core conditions and applied therapy techniques
- Delegation skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- As an autonomous practitioner, is able to work as a team member as well as alone but with access to more senior colleague
- IT skills - basic
- Knowledge of NHS procedures, policies and guidelines
- Ability to formulate and develop specialised individual treatment programmes and ability in using clinical reasoning skills based on current best practice.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) or Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- Registration with HCPC
- Membership of relevant Professional Body
- Evidence of experience in the form of an up to date professional development portfolio
Further Training
Essential criteria
- Attendance at relevant clinical post graduate courses taught often at modular Masters level and relevant to all core specialities
- Practice Placement Educators training / clinical supervisors training
Desirable criteria
- Leadership Training
Experience
Essential criteria
- NHS experience
- Significant post graduate experience with recent experience working within the speciality of Amputees
- Experience of working with a variety of therapeutic approaches
- Experience of audit and service review
- Experience of supervising other staff and students
- Evidence of contribution to clinical education of less experienced staff, assistants and students
Contractual
Essential criteria
- Ability to travel between Kings Mill Hospital and Newark Hospital
- Ability to work over 7 days
Desirable criteria
- Ability to drive
- Car owner
